Part-Time Assistant Magistrate Judge Position
Education/Experience Requirements: The candidate shall be a member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia. The candidate must be a Hall County resident. This position will be called upon to assist solely in Magistrate Court
Job Descriptions/Responsibilities: The position to be filled is for a Part-Time Magistrate Judge who shall serve at the discretion of the Chief Magistrate Judge and shall have jurisdiction and power over the following matters:
- The hearing of applications for and the issuance of arrest and search warrants;
- Issuance of warrants and related proceedings for good behavior bonds and bonds to keep the peace;
- The holding of courts of inquiry;
- The granting of bail in all cases where the granting of bail is not exclusively committed to some other court of officer;
- The execution or subscribing and the acceptance of written waivers of extradition;
The position will require the judge to be in an "on-call" rotation to assist with signing after hour calls, 2 weekends per month for search and arrest warrants.
