What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Technician position at Hammerton, Inc?

This is not your typical packaging job! At Hammerton, we specialize in creating world class light fixtures of all shapes, sizes, and materials. Our product offering varies from small sconces to very large, custom chandeliers. Because of this, our packaging team has to be the best!
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Wrapping glass and other fragile items in bubble wrap and other packing material.
- Prepping and marking hardware and ensuring all parts are accounted for.
- Using our expanding foam system to properly pack our smaller products in boxes.
- Taking photos to document all parts are present and packed properly.
- Completing paperwork as assigned to ensure all orders are properly tracked.
- Building large crates out of 2x4s and plywood for our larger fixtures.
- Bracing and securing product into large crates or boxes.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Entry level position – no experience required – but preference will be given to candidates with previous packaging or manufacturing experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience or ability working with your hands and using tools (drills, staple/nail guns, etc) will be very helpful.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Able to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms for 8 hours per day.
- Able to lift 50 pounds to shoulder level.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- This position works primarily in a manufacturing plant environment with dust and moderate to high noise level.
