GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists the principal in the planning and operation of the comprehensive high school program, supervises and evaluates faculty and staff, and supervises students. Assists with the management of facilities, building, and grounds.ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.)Serves as a primary evaluator and conducts informal and formal observations and provides teachers with quality feedback to improve instructional practice.Analyzes performance data and instructional strategies to make appropriate educational decisions to improve classroom instruction, increase student achievement, and improve overall school, department, and team effectiveness.Works collaboratively with staff to identify student needs and to develop, implement, and monitor the team, department, and school improvement plan or program plan that results in increased student academic progress. Utilizes collaboration and shared decision-making to build relationships, maintain positive morale, and facilitate effective lines of communication. Articulate the school’s mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing its mission.Coordinate Advanced studies courses and programs such as Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Advance College Academy.Knowledgeable with the IEP and 504 process and may serve as the administrator may serve as the administrative designee for those meetings. Implement and monitor school-wide behavioral expectations and policies including monitoring attendance trends and overseeing truancy interventions; address safety and welfare issues by holding meetings with parents, investigating incidents, documenting findings, contacting proper authorities and conforming to legal requirements and regulations..Uses tiered supports and restorative practices and communicates behavior expectations to students, staff, and parents.Plans, organizes, and facilitates team, department, and faculty meetings and maintains records as directed by the principal.Supports professional learning and ongoing collaboration among teachers, administrators, specialists, and support staff.Supports school and division employee onboarding and mentoring processes for all new, provisional, and targeted instructional personnel.Involves students, staff, parents, and the community to create and sustain a positive, safe, and healthy learning environment.Commits to prepare students for their future by building relationships, promote learning that is rigorous and relevant, and develop each student’s unique talents and skills.Address building management concerns by working with the custodial staff, office staff, teachers and division staff including implementing school-wide safety and emergency protocols.Serves on division-wide curriculum committees and participates in assessment of effectiveness of curriculum, instruction, and assessment, and recommendations for improvement at the school and division level.Works with the principal to plan, prepare, and implement a fiscally responsible budget to support the school's mission and goals. Demonstrates a clear understanding of and adherence to all School Board policies.Coordinate transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.Collaborates with administration on the comprehensive scheduling process. Assists in the development of remediation and enrichment programs, including summer planning.Coordinate middle and high school transition activities with feeder schools.Supervision of extracurricular activities as determined by the school principal. Performs other duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with the school division’s policies and practices.

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS: Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact. Regular contact is made with students, teachers, school administrators, parents and the community. Personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Work is typically performed in a school setting including classrooms, cafeteria and recreational areas. Regular coordination with school bus scheduling requiring outside activity in frequent inclement weather is necessary. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine which may require a wide range of motion to include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, light lifting of up to 20 lbs, grasping and manipulating. May involve repetitive motions and long periods of sitting at a desk or computer.
