What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator M&R position at Hapag-Lloyd?
ABOUT THE ROLE
The M&R Coordinator will ensure sufficient equipment availability of all types to cover budgeted and forecasted bookings, while maintaining the most economical cost.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assures that container, chassis, and gensets are in useable condition and repaired to the standards set by the company
- Arranges for all repairs, sale and total loss of equipment
- Coordinates company responses to equipment accidents or cargo incidents
- Assist with claim investigations when needed
- Develops and maintains appropriate working relationships with vendors
- Monitors estimates and actual repairs to ensure that specifications are followed
- Manages costs for maintenance and repairs
- Verify and process terminal, depot and equipment repair invoices
- Maintains and updates online Maintenance and Repair System
- Responsible for equipment and cost reports as needed
- Monitors vendors to ensure they are in line with Hapag-Lloyd standards and requirements

Perform M&R audits and Port Terminal and depot locations

Travel is required. Hotel expenses to be paid by employee and reimbursed via company expense report.
- TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) is required and can be obtained after person is onboard, and applicant must pass federal background check by U.S. authorities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma and 2 years’ experience in the Maritime Industry or the equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Understands most shipping terms; can use a dictionary to find terms not recognized. Is willing to clarify shipping terms unique to a location. Understands routings, schedules and general practices of various countries, carriers, ports, and terminals.
- Knows what type of equipment must be made available at what locations, depending on shipping schedules and types of goods shipped.
- Understands the requirements for using climate-controlled containers in shipping special goods. Knows where to source special units and generator sets and the requirements for their placement on ships, handling by ground transportation companies and repair.
- Understands requirements for maintenance and repair of shipping equipment and is skilled in repair. Knows what various repairs require in time, procedure, and cost. Skilled in identifying quality repair work and that which is unacceptable.
- Proficient in MS Office (e.g., MS Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and other software appropriate to work demands.

Physical ability to perform M&R audits such as working outdoors on foot in heat, cold, rain, snow.
