ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Human Resources Engagement Generalist, you will foster partnerships within the business unit and build relationships with the employees to deliver value added service to management and employees that reflect the business strategy of the organization. Understand business concepts and knowledge of organization/industry and practice independent thinking and decision-making considering financial and operational impact. In addition, the role contributes to improving lives, fostering positive community change, and achieving volunteer engagement objectives aligned with the Hapag Lloyd strategic plan.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage complex and often confidential employee relation issues and exercise significant discretion and independent judgment in providing counseling to the Company management by offering guidance on policies, practices and procedures, and helping resolve issues fairly and consistently.
  • Advising Management on HR-Related matters to ensure compliance with Federal, State and local employment laws and company policies, and provide advice and counsel on appropriate documentation for audits or reporting as needed.
  • Manage performance management processes by coordinating reviews and managing documentation, included but not limited to disciplinary actions, PIP, GSD.
  • Engage with internal HR team and outside counsel, as appropriate, to manage complex
    employee relation issues.
  • Leading recruitment efforts for senior positions or specialized roles, onboarding, and offboarding processes to ensure positive employee experiences.
  • Attend, participate and deliver team member disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures while maintaining the latest knowledge of trends, best practices, and regulatory changes.
  • Manage employee records and provide support to the payroll and training teams within the HR department as needed.
  • Assist the training team in organizing and promoting development opportunities that support both individual growth and organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with managers to identify training needs and recommend resources that advance skill development and align with our DEIB values.
  • Drive the Region North America Culture Committee, taking ownership for key initiatives including Charity, Employee Recognition Programs, Business Resource Groups and other engagement and value propositions. Lead and coordinate regional DEIB initiatives and serve as the Liaison for the United States and Canada to facilitate the sharing of all cultural initiatives.
  • Design and implement engagement programs, surveys, and initiatives aimed at enhancing morale, retention, and a strong sense of community.
  • Coordinate and manage events, celebrations, and recognition activities that reflect our commitment to an inclusive, supportive workplace. Attend community events in person and online as a RNA Hapag Lloyd collaborative representative. Showcase our brand and values, fostering meaningful connections and solidifying our presence within the community. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, or a related field; equivalent HR experience may also be considered.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP a plus.
  • 2-4 years of experience in an HR Generalist or related role managing 200 FTE preferred. with a focus on DEIB and employee engagement.
  • Strong knowledge of HR principles, labor laws, and HR best practices.
  • Experience supporting DEIB initiatives or culture-building programs is highly desired.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster relationships across all organizational levels
  • Proactive and self-starting individual, demonstrating initiative to exceed minimum requirements, influence events to achieve goals and recommend solutions to problems.
  • Proficient in HR software, word processing software, spreadsheets, and other MS Office Components, with advanced skills in PowerPoint and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
  • Exceptional communicator with a strong emphasis on business writing and dynamic public speaking skills, with the ability to address team members with assurance and impact.
  • Organizational abilities, adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously with maintaining a high level of quality and efficiency.
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks under deadline pressure, showcasing effective time management skills.
  • Independent thinking and decision-making oriented worker with a proactive approach to engagement and collaboration, contributing positive to team dynamics.

 While performing the duties of this job the incumbent is regularly required to sit, talk and hear.  The incumbent regularly uses hands and fingers in the course of daily job duties, including the use of a personal computer. The vision requirement includes close vision.  May incur mental stress due to time deadlines. May need to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
