About the Company:

We are the marinara-muddled minds behind Happy Camper, Homeslice, and Paradise Park restaurants. Our brand is glued together by our company culture. Many of our employees have been with the company from the first installment of the brand, Homeslice, a common thread we share is paying a distinct amount of attention to detail in creating this atmosphere. Currently, we are looking for other team members who would like to grow their careers within the hospitality industry.

This job is for someone who may be looking for something more unconventional than a downtown office and who values building the customer experience from the ground up. The ideal candidate wants something more than a cubical and to really enjoy their work environment and the people they work with. With a restaurant group expanding as rapidly as we have, we need someone who is self-motivated and willing to take initiative.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate is highly organized, can work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrates the ability to multi-task and prioritize, upholds company standards and their own. To be successful, this candidate must have strong system skills including Excel and accounting software, have the ability to work with accuracy while adhering to weekly/monthly deadlines. Must have a passion for the restaurant industry and enjoy working in a fun, fast paced professional work environment. Ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 3 years of recent restaurant accounting experience. This position reports to the Controller. With the Controller, the Accounting Clerk strives to provide exemplary customer service to internal and external customers while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities

Accounting:

  • Accounts Payable to process vendor payments weekly, ensuring timely and accurate payment of vendor invoices.
  • Handle vendor communications, resolve any billing disputes 
  • Audit incoming invoices and other payment requests for appropriate coding and authorizations, routing as appropriate.
  • Facilitates payment of vendors, which may include verification of federal ID numbers, reviewing purchase orders, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Ensures outstanding obligations are credited upon payment, identifies discount opportunities, and issues purchase order amendments or stop-payment orders as needed.
  • Assist the controller in educating employees and managers on policies and procedures relating to disbursements.
  • Review credit card expense reports and petty cash replenishments requests for accuracy and completeness.
  • Receives and verifies expense reports; reconciles expense and other financial reports with account balances and other office records.
  • Assists with accounting records and ledgers by reconciling monthly statements and transactions.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual 1099s.
  • Maintain vendor files, including contracts for services and paid items.
  • Prepare invoices as needed and calculates and reports sales tax based on paid invoices.
  • Prepare bank deposits.
  • Maintain customer files
  • Generate internal and external reports from accounting systems as needed.
  • Assist in resolving discrepancies and irregularities.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  •  Ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and organized and able to work independently and accurately under general supervision.
  • Technology and accounting systems savvy.
  • Analytic, organizational, and problem-solving skills, which allows for strategic data interpretation vs. simple reporting and/or processing.
  • Ability and desire to translate financial concepts to individuals at all levels throughout the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish that are tactful and diplomatic
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, able to respond to changing priorities
  • Able to respond effectively to telephone and in-person inquiries.
  • Knowledge of intermediate Microsoft Office programs required.
  • Able to work at computer up to 80% of the time; ability to utilize general office equipment.

Education and Experience

  • BA in finance, accounting, or related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience in Account Payable
  • One to three years’ experience in accounting or related field
  • Experience in Toast Point of Sales and/or restaurant accounting software Restaurant 365 desired but not required.

The position is considered to be sedentary and no unusual physical requirements are necessary to perform daily tasks. Position requires an extended period of sitting, with much of the work done at a computer workstation. Stooping and/or bending may be required to perform routine clerical tasks, such as filing.

Compensation Details

Compensation: $40,000-50,000 / year
