HARD Manufacturing Company, located in Buffalo, NY, is the leading manufacturer of quality hospital cribs and youth beds both domestically and internationally. Our products are built in our local manufacturing facility by our UAW Union workforce. We are a long-standing business that is planning for ongoing growth and we need to enhance our CNC skilled resources.
Job Summary
The CNC Machine Setup/Operator is responsible for set up, care and operation of several CNC laser machines. Requires an attention to detail and skill to set-up and operate CNC tube laser, CNC presses and sheet steel laser style machines and be able to manufacture steel parts and verify their dimensional measurements based on 2D and 3D drawings. The ideal candidate will have the machine set up skills/experience along with an ability to plan their work to maximize efficiency across multiple machines.
Main Job Tasks
- Setup and operate sheet metal laser, tube lasers, and other CNC machines as needed.
- Manage the running of multiple machines to maximize machine capacity and staff time.
- Proactively communicate with co-workers and supervisor to receive instructions & coordinate work across department
- Understand job schedule in order to determine machine set up priorities
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machines such as speed and feed to obtain efficient production performance
- Edit programs (working with engineering) as needed
- Verify and self-inspect work to meet print specifications
- Read and interpret engineering drawings
- Record job activities, including counts, utilizing labor reporting system
- Drive a fork lift truck to transport material for storage or delivery to another department
- Perform established routine machine maintenance including oiling or cleaning machines, dies or work pieces
- Observe machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions and adjusting machines as necessary
Experience and Education
- High School Diploma/GED
- Minimum 4 years of related work experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment; doing set up and operations of CNC equipment
- Experience in CNC laser cutting, a plus
- Strong mechanical knowledge
- Good communication skills, attention to detail and pride in workmanship are essential
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $25.50 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
