Overview

Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Civil Engineering from an accredited university is preferred.

Certification: Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is highly preferred.

Experience: This position requires 7 years of relevant experience in engineering and project management. Experience with a formal project management methodology required including Front-End loading, detailed design, procurement, construction, and startup; formal PM certification highly desirable.

Generally responsible for performing all aspects of project management for moderately complex engineering project assignments ensuring total delivery of the services on time, within performance budget and quality expectations. This work will be performed under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• In this role, you will be responsible for executing a capital project to build a new R & D facility and lead the project team.

• The project manager is the focal point of responsibility, authority, and accountability for the assigned project. He/she will be accountable to deliver the project on schedule, within the approved budget and with required functionality/quality and safety.

• This position has the overall accountability of the entire project life cycle. Leading the project team starting from conceptual stage to scope development, basic engineering (FEED/FEL3), to execution (detail design, procurement, and construction), commissioning and start-up.

• The incumbent will be accountable leading internal and contractor personnel and translating the project objectives for each project team members.

• The project manager is expected to develop the project scope/cost/schedule and align with all stakeholders. Prepare and submit the project for funds approval. Regularly provide updates to the steering committee and stakeholders.

• This position is responsible for stakeholder’s management, contract management, communication, and risk management. This position will represent for all external contractors.

• The ideal candidate will be results oriented in a fast-paced deadline driven environment and an excellent team player. This position will report to SMG – Program Manager.

• Lead capital projects to expand manufacturing capacity, transition products to high volume manufacturing, or implement continuous improvements to existing products/processes
• Utilize project management techniques to develop project charters, budgets, risk assessments, resource plans, Gantt charts and periodic status reports to stakeholders and steering committee
• Must have a solid experience with the stage gate /FEL process and construction management principles
• Leveraging your educational background in an engineering discipline as well as extensive professional experience in project management, you will be accountable leading a diverse team in planning and execution of strategically important projects.
• Strong ability to influence project stakeholders will allow you to effectively communicate to executives project status, risks, and opportunities and to coordinate on countermeasures or mitigation strategies.
• Championing the scope development process, you will ensure completeness of basic engineering and look for opportunities for scope optimization and added value through the application of disciplined approach and risk management.
• Your proven track record of executing capital projects up to $10M TIC and managing engineering and construction contractors as a project owner will enable you to be successful.
