The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS) The Office of Water Prediction (OWP) is an organization dedicated to collaboratively researching, developing, and delivering state-of-the-science national hydrologic analyses, forecast information, data, decision-support services, and guidance to support and inform essential emergency services and water management decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a Project Manager for OWP project(s) in accordance with project management best practices.
- Develop and execute project plans, manage project scope, assess and address potential risks, track resource usage, report regularly on project status
- Assist the Business Analyst (BA) with requirements gathering.
- Assist with the generation of Project Documentation (e.g. Project Charters, Project Progress Reporting and Capstone Presentations and Dashboards).
- Assist with the generation of PMO process documentation (e.g., Project Management Manual, Project Documentation templates).
- Assist with the closure of projects. Project closure will be per OWP SOPs, which includes presenting a capstone presentation to the OWP Program Management Council (PMC).
Required Skills /Education/ Certifications & Qualifications:
- MA/MS degree (or equivalent)
- 8-10 years of project management experience
- Demonstrates writing and oral communication skills, manages day-to-day activities of the team
- Demonstrates proven skills in requirements gathering, quality control, project management best practices
- Organizes, directs, and coordinates the planning and production of all activities associated with assigned delivery order projects
- Experience with Google Suite including Smartsheet
- PMP desired, not required
