The BackLot Assistant General Manager partners with the BackLot General Manager and management team to create and maintain a profitable, clean, guest service-focused Family Entertainment Center (FEC) through motivational leadership and by fostering a culture of creativity, free-thinking, continuous improvement, and intelligent decision making. The BLAGM works closely with the BLGM to provide a safe, sanitary work environment that conforms to all standards and regulations.
Please note this position will be in our Norterra- North Phoenix location.

What You Will Be Doing:
Exhibit strong leadership and communication skills that positively influence all levels of the team.
Represent Harkins’ culture when communicating with guests in any way and respond to all guest concerns and/or inquiries within Harkins’ standards. Handle and resolve escalated guest and employee concerns with empathy/sympathy.
Lead every shift with passion and drive to create an efficient, productive work environment while adhering to Harkins’ guidelines, purchasing agreements, and controlling cost of goods.
Run high volume service periods from the floor to ensure food quality, service, and operation meets Harkins’ standards.
Perform precise line checks and facility walks with proper follow up and documentation and participate with all Health inspections.
Work with team to maximize sales and optimize profits through the management of food, pour, and labor costs. Oversees ordering, inventory, controllable expenses, and budget results.
Maintain the safety, security, cleanliness, maintenance, and organization of the FEC, and promptly identify and elevate issues as needed to ensure company standards are realized. Ensure all OSHA and food safety guidelines are met, and manage all compliance-related training and certifications, (i.e., Title 4, CFM, etc.).
Provide timely and specific feedback on contracted vendors’ performance, escalating concerns to the BackLot General Manager.
Manage all employees in accordance with Harkins’ policies and applicable laws to include interviewing, hiring, on-boarding, training, and development of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; performance appraisals, rewarding and disciplining employees.
Oversees employee scheduling, labor costs, and reports payroll hours in compliance with company standards and state laws.
Conduct various inspirational, informative, and effective huddles, meetings and training sessions, and assign/direct work to ensure knowledgeable service levels.
Maintain internal checker tracking and scoreboard posting.
Facilitate formal and informal channels of development for management and key hourly team members.
Partner with the BackLot General Manager and District Manager to manage the P&L and participate in financial/performance meetings, in the BackLot General Manager’s absence.
Accurately analyze previous sales, upcoming booked events, promotions, special events, local impact events and holidays to generate projected attendance, revenue, and labor reports, and generate employee schedules.
Produce and maintain reports monitoring efficiency and profitability as well as daily and weekly recaps for the BLGM.
Provide feedback to the BackLot General Manager on marketing, human resources, and risk management programs.
Proactively support any promotional activity within the FEC and contribute to an effective working environment.
Perform mid and end of month procedures to Harkins’ standards.
Attend weekly/bi-weekly district meetings in the absence of the BackLot General Manager, either at the support office or electronically for remote locations. Attends the Alcohol Service Meetings and meets weekly with the BackLot Executive Kitchen Manager (BLEKM) to discuss operational goals and performance.
What We Are Looking For:
Bachelor's degree preferred. High school diploma or GED and 3 years of FEC and/or restaurant front of house (FOH) and/or back of house (BOH) management or equivalent work experience will be considered.
Knowledgeable in bowling, arcade, and/or food & beverage operations. FEC experience preferred.
Local or state regulatory certifications regarding food handling and liquor service.
Must pass background check and maintain clear record during employment.
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally with senior management, staff, and external vendors. Bilingual, Spanish a plus.
Superior organizational, prioritization and time management skills; ability to execute against multiple, high-priority projects, with a keen attention to detail and excellent follow through.
Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions while maintaining flexibility and composure.
Reliable work vehicle and willingness to travel.
Supervisory/training/mentoring experience.
Excellent guest service skills.
Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in maintaining confidential and sensitive information.
Maintains a professional attitude and demeanor. Demonstrates unimpeachable integrity and accountability.
