Job Summary:
The General Merchandise Manager is responsible for the overall management and profitability of the dealership’s merchandise, including motorcycle parts, accessories, apparel, and other related products. This role involves strategic planning, inventory management, sales promotion, and customer service to ensure a high standard of product availability and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
- Oversee the ordering, stocking, and replenishment of merchandise to ensure optimal inventory levels.
- Analyze sales data and trends to forecast demand and adjust inventory accordingly.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
Sales and Profitability:
- Develop and implement strategies to drive sales and achieve revenue targets.
- Monitor sales performance and profitability of merchandise, identifying areas for improvement.
- Manage pricing strategies and promotions to maximize profit margins and attract customers.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Hire, train, and supervise merchandising staff, ensuring they are knowledgeable and motivated.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to improve team performance.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment.
Customer Service:
- Ensure exceptional customer service by addressing customer inquiries, complaints, and returns promptly.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers to enhance loyalty and repeat business.
- Train staff to provide knowledgeable and courteous service.
Merchandising and Presentation:
- Oversee the visual merchandising of the showroom, ensuring products are displayed attractively and effectively.
- Implement seasonal or promotional displays to highlight key products and drive sales.
- Ensure all merchandise is priced and labeled correctly.
Administrative Duties:
- Prepare and manage the merchandise budget, including tracking expenses and revenue.
- Generate and analyze reports related to inventory, sales, and customer trends.
- Ensure compliance with dealership policies, procedures, and legal regulations.
Marketing and Promotions:
- Collaborate with marketing teams to create and execute promotional campaigns and events.
- Utilize social media, email marketing, and other channels to promote merchandise and increase visibility.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in retail management, preferably in the automotive or motorcycle industry.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Proficient in inventory management and sales analysis.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge: Familiarity with Harley-Davidson products and accessories is a plus.
