What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy - Part-Time - Transportation position at Harris County Sheriff's Office?
THIS IS A PART-TIME TEMPORARY POSITION
Harris County Sheriff’s Office Transportation & Hospital Security Unit deputies transport prisoners to and from various locations within the state.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate class “C” and “B” vehicles within Harris County and the State of Texax Transport high-risk to low-risk inmates to different facilities throughout the State of Texas
- Maintain care, custody, and control of all inmates being transported
- Inspect vehicles daily to ensure they are safe to operate
- Complete other tasks assigned within the section
THIS IS A PART-TIME TEMPORARY POSITION
- Must be an Honorably Retired Peace Officer
- A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in law enforcement, record management, or a related field
- Must have an active TCOLE Peace Officer License
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in conflict resolutions
- Texas Driver’s License
- Applicant must be willing to be trained or obtain a Class B or higher Texas Commercial Driver’s License with a passenger endorsement with air brakes within the first year of being transferred to Transportation
- Agree to commit to the Transportation Unit, the length of time will be determined at a later date
- Detention Standard Operating Procedures and County Policies
- Proficient in the use of standard office software programs such as RMS, MS Office, Word, and Outlook
- Strong communication skills - both written and verbal
- Self-motivated, detail-orientated, and able to work with little supervision
- Perform searches of inmates to include inmates with medical issues and in a hospital bed
- Perform other assignments and duties as required and/or necessary
- TASER Certified
- Bilingual

- A minimum of 20 hours per week with a maximum of 30 hours per week
- Hours are based on the needs of the department
