Under the general supervision of the Adult Sex Crimes Supervisor, the Deputy Investigator performs duties related to criminal investigations of sex crimes and related allegations.
- Files charges.
- Interviews witnesses and interrogate suspects.
- Prepares detailed reports.
- Manages a substantial caseload.
- Subpoenas medical records, therapy records, and any other items needed for case presentation.
- Testifies in court.
- Executes arrest and search warrants.
- Conducts surveillance.
- Assists other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in conducting criminal investigations.
- Performs other assignments and duties as required and/or necessary.
- Must be an Honorably Retired Peace Officer
- A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in law enforcement, record management, or a related field
- Must have an active TCOLE Peace Officer License
- Two (2) years of patrol and/or criminal investigative experience with any law enforcement agency.
- Must possess an Intermediate Peace Officer License or higher.
- A two-year commitment to the Adult Special Crimes Section.
- Knowledge of Texas Penal Code.
- Proficient in the use of standard office software programs such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Proficient in the use of Superion/RMS, JIMS, CAD, DIMS, and JOTS computer systems.
- Strong communication skills – both oral and written.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively manage a heavy caseload.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment to meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Bilingual
