JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Asphalt Plant Technician is a skilled role responsible for operating and controlling various types of asphalt equipment. This position also involves performing general labor tasks, including housekeeping, preventative maintenance, and plant repairs, to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the asphalt plant.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Operate and control various types of asphalt plant equipment to produce hot mix asphalt according to specifications.
- Monitor equipment operation to ensure a consistent flow of materials.
- Conduct basic welding and fabrication work to support the maintenance and upkeep of the asphalt plant.
- Oversee and coordinate the production and loading of all asphalt dispatched from the plant.
- Conduct general labor tasks, including shoveling, cleaning, greasing, repairing, and loading/unloading materials.
- Collaborate with QC (quality control) team to ensure asphalt meets required specifications.
- Complete other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 1-3 years of experience operating heavy equipment (loaders, skid loaders, and man lifts).
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, as required.
- Be able to safely use and operate hand and power tools.
- Basic computer skills
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Heavy equipment qualifications
- Safety qualifications
- Welding experience
- Prior knowledge and hands-on experience in asphalt plant operations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Climb and maintain balance on scaffold or walkway

- Reach for, handle and grasp wires and hand tools
- Bend, crouch and work in small spaces
- Lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds
- Be comfortable working at various heights
- Able to work in tight quarters
Environment is exclusively outdoors; thus, the job often involves all weather extremes. Work requires alert individuals with balance and physical strength. Workers must be able to lift up to 100 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 50 pounds on a constant basis.
