Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary: The Radiology Nurse Supervisor is responsible for assessing the needs of patients in the Radiology department including diagnostic radiology, CT, MRI and IR. The Radiology Nurse Supervisor is responsible for developing a plan for the safe care of patients focusing on inpatients, transported to Radiology from inpatient floors as well as emergency patients and outpatients. The Radiology Nurse Supervisor oversees quality measures of the nursing department and works with the physicians to establish quality care guidelines for the department. In addition, the CNC develops and implements a plan of care to provide support to Interventional Radiology cases and anesthesia cases that occur in the Radiology Department in the “Circulating Nurse” role.

In addition to providing the nursing support for the Radiology Department in its entirety, the Radiology Nurse Supervisor oversees the Interventional Radiology department to ensure the safe and appropriate delivery of care during all interventional procedures. He/She is responsible for developing staffing plans that meet the need of the Interventional and Radiology Departments. The Radiology Nurse Supervisor is also responsible for role modeling and improving patient satisfaction, customer service, professionalism, inter-departmental relations, and teamwork.

The scope and complexity of the Radiology Nurse Supervisor position will vary based on the number of beds/visits/procedures in the department, acuity of patients, FTEs supervised, number of different medical staff and medical staff services involved, “normal working hours” responsibility or 24/7 responsibility, the activity level of admissions, discharges and transfers per day, and the education resources available.

II. Position Requirements:

A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multistate Registered Nurse license. Current BLS certification, ACLS certification and PALS certification.

B. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.

C. Experience: At least two years acute care/specialty nursing is desirable in area of specialty. At least one year previous experience in charge/supervisory or management position.

D. Special Qualifications: Demonstrates good organizational skills. Provides safe and appropriate care within the Standards of Nursing practice at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center. Demonstrates good critical thinking skills. Displays leadership and problem solving skills. Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers. Able to articulate and demonstrate knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
