Job Title: Manufacturing Accountant
Position Overview
The Manufacturing Accountant plays a key role within the company by working closely with the accounting, operations, and sales teams. This hands-on position will be involved in a variety of tasks, including the month-end and year-end closing processes, customer invoicing, product costing, sales tax filings, and other accounting-related functions. The role also includes managing product costing updates, conducting analysis, maintaining costing tools, and supporting inventory-related activities. Additionally, the Manufacturing Accountant will help improve inventory management processes by coordinating cycle counts with operations and driving process improvements.
This is a full-time, in-office position reporting directly to the Financial Controller.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to timely month-end and year-end closing and financial reporting.
- Prepare and post month-end journal entries, accruals, and maintain associated records, including balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist in upholding internal controls and segregation of duties.
- Support financial reporting and analysis, including variance analysis, for various stakeholders.
- Assist in weekly KPI and cash flow reporting.
- File state sales tax returns monthly.
- Process daily customer invoices, including product costing updates.
- Maintain and regularly review product costs, recommending improvements as necessary.
- Oversee tools used by Sales for customer quoting, ensuring accurate inventory costing.
- Manage physical inventory and cycle counts in collaboration with manufacturing and purchasing teams. Analyze inventory variance and drive improvements in related processes.
- Support purchasing and operations teams in cost and inventory improvement projects.
- Maintain and update system master records for customers, vendors, and inventory.
- Recommend and implement process improvements, including automation initiatives.
- Assist the sales team with customer-related inquiries and activities as needed.
- Produce customer sales records, gross margin reports, and variance-to-forecast reports.
- Collaborate with MRP software vendors for troubleshooting, system maintenance, and updates.
- Maintain a continuous improvement mindset for all areas of business processes.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and methodologies.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in product and inventory costing, including bills of materials and labor costing, is essential.
- Manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Supervisory experience is a plus.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and other business software.
- Experience maintaining and updating financial models, such as cash flows and financial statements.
- At least 3 years of experience with MRP software and related accounting and costing processes.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to see the bigger picture.
- Proactive, action-oriented mindset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical abilities, with the capability to present data clearly and effectively.

Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
