Health Care District of Palm Beach County is Hiring a Benefits Specialist Near Beach, FL

Overview

This position assists with the coordination of employee benefits programs. The Benefits Specialist supports the needs of our employees through a highly customer-focused approach to human resources, along with strong organization and administrative skills. This position is responsible for maintaining records and assisting with general benefit functions. This position may also have a crossover role in employee engagement.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Monitor all Personnel Change Notices (PCN’s) for information that will affect benefits (new hires, status changes, terminations, etc.). Initiate timely communication and appropriate documents as needed based on PCN status.
  •  Track benefit elections, log and collect dependent eligibility documents as needed.
  •  Assist employees with new hire enrollment, status changes, terminations and qualifying life events.
  •  Complete Medicare forms, create benefit verification letters and any other communication for employees as requested.
  •  Process faxes and mail, scan documents into files.
  •  Participate in new hire orientation, open enrollment, benefit fairs and benefit meetings.
  • Assist with general functions in benefits including retirement and leaves. Process Tuition Reimbursements.
  • Assist with employee engagement processes and functions as needed. Serve as a backup to other benefit related roles.
  • Run various reports for the department to assist with analysis and recommendations.
  • Emergency duty may be required of the incumbent that includes working in Red Cross shelters or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to threats or disasters, man-made or natural.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required. Bachelor and/or Associate’s degree in human resource management or business preferred.

Experience:

  • Two (2) plus years' experience in benefits preferred.
