Schedule: Casual, union position. Minimum of three shifts per month including one weekend shifts. Varied shifts available including days, evenings and weekends.
Pay: $17.43 - $20.79 depending on experience. Earned sick and safe time. Flexible schedule.
The Life Enrichment Assistant is responsible for implementing and monitoring assigned life enhancement/life enrichment programming for residents consistent with regulations and established policies, procedures and best practices.
Responsibilities:

Assist in maintaining an environment that achieves high quality care (physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual) of residents and maintain their independence and dignity to the highest degree possible within the Heartwood continuum. Implement assigned activities that help residents achieve “their best day”, filled with a wide variety of meaningful relationships and activities. Participate in meeting all resident and household needs by actively assisting (to the extent of cross training and certification) in all tasks to meet identified needs. Maintain effective communication systems with all customers.

Perform assigned work routines and daily assignments to meet the psychosocial and activities needs of residents and the Household, including creating diverse opportunities for meaningful pursuits, daily pleasures, life enrichment, exercise, friendships, social interaction, growth and learning, fun and enjoyment, personal routines, spontaneous activity and Household rituals. Participate in Chat Circles with residents and staff in the household daily.

Assist residents with activities of their choice, group, individual or one on one. Provide for resident leisure life activities. Take residents outdoors, or out in the facility community. Organizes and transports residents, assuring their safety, and supervises residents during activities both inside and outside of Heartwood.

Maintains knowledge of resident’s condition at all times and recognizes and interprets symptoms, reports resident’s condition and assists with or initiates process to care for residents.

Maintains accurate and complete records of residents with regard to activity assessment care plan, progress notes and attendance at organized activities and personal leisure activity pursuits. Assists residents in maintaining involvement with family, community and religious affiliation.

Implement established life enhancement, life enrichment policies, procedures and practices. Use quality management process to meet the needs of residents, staff and life enrichment services in the community.

Maintain established monitoring systems and processes to ensure compliance with regulations and established rehabilitation best practices. Apply the knowledge and skills needed for the position, including technical competence in the life enrichment field; function according to the Standards of Practice of the profession; maintain knowledge of organization policies and practices.

Perform miscellaneous tasks as needed for residents such as shopping, running errands, assisting with correspondence, reading/writing letters etc. Provide one on one interaction with residents based on preferences. Transport residents to other parts of the community. Collaborate with households and campus staff related to large campus events, shared equipment etc.

As a member of the team, actively participate in team, meetings and processes. Assist in the orientation of new team members as assigned. Represent life enrichment issues at household and campus functions.

Effectively collaborate with staff to promote the residents’ total well-being. Assure that the households have the necessary resources (community linkages, materials and supplies, skills and knowledge) to be successful and to provide continuity in quality resident care. Maintain flexibility with personal work schedule to achieve and assure high levels of customer satisfaction.

Demonstrate good stewardship of available resources (supplies, utilities, time). Maintain established inventory control/system of program supplies and equipment.
Qualifications

High School Diploma or related.

Valid MN Driver’s license and pass DOT physical within 60 days of hire.

Valid Registered Nursing Assistant certification or NA/R or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire.

American Heart Association BLS certification required within 30 days of hire to work in the Care Center.

Able and willing to work flexible hours such as during evenings and weekends for planned programs.

Ability to adapt resources to meet the needs of the situation.

Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and appropriately.

Demonstrated enthusiasm, initiative and good rapport with residents, staff, families and volunteers.

Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with all customers.
