This position is onsite working a 4x10 schedule, Monday thru Thursday 6am-4:30m and every third or fourth Friday.
Responsibilities
This role will be responsible for analyzing customer and business requirements and coordinating internal manufacturing operations to meet demand within specified parameters. The Buyer/Planner will be responsible for a subset of raw material parts planning and control in the facility, placement of Purchase Orders to external suppliers, as well as managing and reducing inventory while maintaining strong on-time delivery to end customer’s both internally and externally. They will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely communication regarding operational performance and delivery expectations using the Kanban Replenishment Tool. They will support the development and ongoing short and long-term capacity planning for the business.
Essential Functions:
Leadership
· Promotes Helmer values as demonstrated in personal productivity and quality of work, management of internal/external relationships, actively seeking out and participating in Continuous Improvement practices, and willingness to engage and support team initiatives.
· Comply with workplace safety procedures.
Process Management
· Leads collaboration with external Suppliers and Internal Operational Department Leaders to manage production scheduling boards, receipt of product base on Kanban Replenishment Tool and On-Time Delivery to ensure accurate data to the production lines and picking process (material handling) regarding customer demand.
· Analyze demand and forecast, productions schedules, and monitor the flow of material through the Production cycle.
· Submit Purchase Order releases using Kanban methods of inventory control which allow all incoming material to meet established quality, price, inventory, and delivery requirements.
· Own daily working relationships with suppliers and manage improvement activities (Inventory reduction)
· Ensure that supply partners are delivering Quality products within agreed upon Lead Times.
· Support supplier evaluations and supplier scorecard processes.
· Responsible for KPI adherence in designated area (Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity).
· Provides solutions to unexpected demands in the factory by communicating with leaders and determining best course of action or alternative solution(s).
· Establishes stocking and replenishment levels for manufactured inventory utilizing the Kanban philosophy of inventory management.
· Modify and maintain records and reports pertaining to Kanban system via Material Plans and ownership of data within MRP/ERP system.
· Supports forecasting and S&OP efforts in the role of the subject-matter-expert and capacity manager for their assigned Value Stream.
· Support Quality, Engineering, Regulatory, and Purchasing in the introduction of new product and product change(s).
· Contribute to the coaching, mentorship and problem solving around the Kanban Replenishment Tool, Kanban process, and MRP/ERP management.
Continuous Improvement
· Supports development and reporting of KPI which monitor functional and operational performance.
· Develop and maintain standard work for MRP/ERP planning and Kanban Replenishment Tool
· Collaborates with cross-function teams in the progression and improvements around the Kanban Replenishment Tool and process
Qualifications
Relative Work Experience: Two years minimum in production planning or another supply chain management role. Minimum one year in a planning role. Purchasing experience preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required in Supply Chain Management, Management or Industrial Management or equivalent Helmer experience.
Certifications / Licenses: Knowledge of Lean required. Lean Certification a plus.
Computer Systems / Software: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel. MRP/ERP, Fourth Shift experience a plus. Engineering Bill of Materials systems familiarity a strong plus.
