Area of Accountability :
This position is accountable for the operation of primary and support equipment on a production line in a manufacturing environment operating under quality standards for the safe daily operation of and the routine maintenance and upkeep of assigned equipment and work areas, and for producing parts that meet pre-determined quality standards within assigned time parameters.
Major Responsibilities :
Operates forging presses, machining centers, and support equipment
Perform inspection on product utilizing total quality concepts
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as needed
Accurately report daily activities and production data as directed
Manage Kanban cards and other media as required
Conduct required quality checks using basic measurement equipment
Keep work areas clean and free of safety hazards
Exercise safe working habits while operating machines
Perform other duties as assigned by the Area Leader / Coordinator
Interact with technical support personnel and support downtime activities
Other Responsibilities :
Maintain press dies
Develop knowledge of work instructions, FPS, HTES, inspection instructions and other documentation as required
Follow proper material tagging procedures
Participate in continuous improvement programs such as SMED, Kaizen, 5S and other programs as directed
Positively identify that the part matches the blueprint
Measure part to ensure part is within tolerance
Maintain proper use of hand tools such as impact guns, de bur guns, etc.

Qualifications :
High School diploma or G.E.D. from an accredited school
Must pass drug and alcohol screen and remain drug free throughout the term of employment
Must be able to pass job fitness evaluation - physical fitness test
National Career Readiness Certification preferred
Previous forging or machining experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Must be able to read and write legibly
Ability to function as an effective team member
Ability to follow operation procedures and assess problems and recommend solutions to resolve problems
Able to read and understand blueprints and geometric tolerances
Ability to perform quality checks using calibrated digital micrometers, Vernier calipers and go / no go gauges to ensure product is within tolerance
Must be able to meet production standards and follow instructions
Mechanical aptitude with a demonstrated ability to work in a production environment is preferred
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide whole numbers as well as fractions
Ability to read a tape measure
Minor computer skills requiring data entry into pre-existing forms and spreadsheets
Training and evaluation to obtain a license to operate a fork truck
