- APP will be in the Vascular/Stroke Division of Neurology and will be based in the clinic. Primarily, APPs will see ischemic stroke and TIA patients after a hospitalization (i.e. stroke hospital follow-up visits); possibly some neuro endovascular follow-up.
- APP will work at Detroit and, West Bloomfield where we have TJC-certified Comprehensive (Detroit) and Thrombectomy-Capable (West Bloomfield) Stroke Centers, demonstrating clinically excellent stroke care based on the most current national clinical practice guidelines.
- APP will become a part of a team caring for complex patients with stroke, contributing to excellent outcomes across the care continuum; providing excellent outpatient care that complements the inpatient care for effective secondary stroke prevention and recovery support.
- The Specialty/Invasive Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment
- APP will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to patients and their families.
- Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care. Works in collaboration with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently. Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's Degree or Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program OR Master's degree in Nursing.
Neuroscience experience is preferred
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
Requires Michigan state licensure and continued certification by the National. Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). OR Current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Current State license as a Registered Nurse
Current ACLS/BLS as required. Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required.
