** Patient Welfare / Cashiers Officer**

**NHS AfC: Band 3**

An opportunity has arisen for two Patient Welfare/ Cashier Officers at North East London Foundation Trust based in Sunflowers Court, Goodmayes Hospital within the In-Patient setting. The posts are both permanent, one is full-time and one is part-time (29 hours).

The Welfare Department provides an efficient and effective benefits advisory service for patients, ensuring that all in- patients have help and assistance with claiming and maintaining of benefits. It is very much a client based service.

The Welfare Department provide a cashiering service to patients and to all NELFT teams.

The Welfare Department also administer the onsite parking system for staff and visitors.

The post holders will provide a specialist benefits advice and financial service to the In- Patient and Community teams. This is a busy role which requires sound financial experience and the ability to remain calm in often challenging situations. Willingness to learn or knowledge of the current benefits system is desirable.

The post holders should be enthusiastic, friendly, adaptable and resourceful, with the ability to prioritise and organise their own workloads. They will need to demonstrate evidence of excellent communication, numerate and IT skills.

The main responsibilities of the post:

Working as part of a team to provide and maintain an efficient and effective cashiering service for patients and staff. This involves the administrating of all hospital, patients monies and community teams petty cash, and ensuring that the float/petty cash is balanced on a daily basis.

Contributing to the smooth running of the Welfare Service, including daily visits to the wards to meet with service users to offer advice and assistance with any benefit queries. Ensuring that service users finances are fully investigated to maximise their income.

Safekeeping of service users property.

Administering the onsite parking system for NELFT staff and visitors.

**Probationary Period**

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

**Starting with NELFT**

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham Essex

**High Cost Area Supplement - London**

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of 3,784 to a maximum of 4,822).
