Position Overview:
Hesston Middle and High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) Teacher to inspire and educate students in grades 7-12. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to student learning, a collaborative spirit, and an enthusiasm for creating engaging, real-world learning experiences in areas such as nutrition, culinary, personal finance, child development, and career readiness. This position requires flexibility and adaptability, as the teacher will serve both middle and high school students.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and deliver a comprehensive FACS curriculum that aligns with state standards and supports the needs of middle and high school students.

Teach courses in various aspects of family and consumer sciences, including but not limited to nutrition and wellness, culinary, personal finance, child and human development, interior design, and career exploration.

Foster a classroom environment that encourages collaboration, critical thinking, and practical skill application.

Assess and monitor student progress through assignments, projects, and assessments, providing feedback to support growth and development.

Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student success and well-being.

Engage students in hands-on activities, projects, and experiential learning that make FACS content relevant and engaging.

Support students in developing practical life skills and preparing for potential career paths related to family and consumer sciences.

Participate in professional development and stay current on trends and best practices in FACS education.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education, Education, or a related field (Master's degree is a plus).

Valid Kansas teaching license in Family and Consumer Sciences, or eligibility for licensure.

Knowledge of family and consumer sciences content areas, teaching methods, and curriculum design.

Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to connect with students and foster a positive learning environment.
Consideration for Alternative Licensure:
Candidates who do not hold a traditional teaching license in Family and Consumer Sciences but have relevant experience or expertise in the field are encouraged to apply.
