What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Inspector position at Hi-Lex Controls?
Evaluates the conformity level of purchased and manufactured products. Maintains files that relate to the quality history of all products. Supports the Quality and Manufacturing functions, and all disciplines that require assistance in resolving Quality related issues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Evaluates purchased components and determines the degree of ,or lack of conformance based on Recing Insp. Documents.
- Prepares and attaches a material investigation report (MIR) to all product found non-conforming.
- Monitors MIRs and assures proper containment of suspect and nonconforming materials.
- Enters Receiving Inspection evaluation data into computer system or hard copy files.
- Gathers data from End-of-Line testers and enters it into the SPC Computer Systems.
- Gathers data from current manufacturing operations charts and calculates summary statistics.
- Monitors Manufacturing charting for correct and complete implementation and response.
- Investigate component and product problems as required.
- Perform ultrasonic tests on projection welds.
Secondary Functions:
- Maintains samples of current components and products.
- Assists in gathering PPAP and SOP data for new launches and product/process changes.
- Performs general administrative duties as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Specialized Training, Skills, Abilities, Experience:
- Previous experience in quality systems SPC, use of dedicated gages, etc..
- Previous tier one automotive experience desirable.
- Demonstrates written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated competence in basic metrology.
- Demonstrates competence in basic drawing (blueprint) interpretation.
- Minimum of 120 hours inspection with an Ultrasonic Weld Test Technican or a minimum of 60 hours experience combined with the completion of an approved training course.
- Surpass the Hi-Lex Ultrasonic Weld Test exam.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
- Factory environment with noise from manufacturing equipment.
- Exposure to dangerous equipment.
- Process serious injury due to carelessness around equipment.
- Sometimes lifts, carries or moves objects up to 50 pounds.
