MLL Long Term Substitute

Job Summary: The Multilingual Learner (MLL) Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and support to students who are learning English as an additional language. The teacher will work with students of various ages and proficiency levels to develop their English language skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The MLL Teacher collaborates with other educators, administrators, and families to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that fosters academic success and cultural competence.Key Responsibilities: Instructional Planning and Delivery: -Implement lessons that: align with state standards, align with the High Quality Instructional Materials and are tailored to the needs of multilingual learners-Use a variety of teaching methods and instructional materials to accommodate different learning styles and proficiency levels.-Incorporate technology and multimedia resources to enhance language learning.Assessment and Evaluation: -Assess students' English language proficiency using standardized tests and informal assessments.-Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to students and families.-Adjust instructional strategies based on assessment data to meet individual student needs.Collaboration and Communication: -Work collaboratively with general education teachers to support MLL students in mainstream classrooms.-Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.-Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and strategies for supporting language development at home.Classroom Management and Environment: -Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that celebrates cultural diversity.-Establish clear expectations for behavior and academic performance.-Implement positive behavior management strategies to maintain a productive learning environment.Professional Development: -Stay current with research and best practices in English language learning and multicultural education.-Attend workshops, conferences, and other professional development opportunities.-Engage in reflective practice and seek feedback to continually improve instructional effectiveness.Professional Responsibilities: -Adhere to school policies, procedures, and ethical standards.-Participate in school events, parent-teacher conferences, and other activities outside regular school hours as needed.
