POSITION SUMMARY
The staff accountant is responsible for posting transactions, aiding in preparing financial statements, completing state sales and use tax returns, analyzing and reconciling accounts and participating in presentations to management.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
• Follows GAAP accounting standards
• Prepares adjusting and reclassing general ledger entries as needed
• Prepares and posts cash transactions
• Assists Controller with financial analysis and month-end close
• Provides management team with financial, revenue, or cost reporting as assigned
• Performs Balance Sheet account reconciliations, account analysis, accrual calculations, and other related accounting documents/schedules
• Reconciles sub-ledgers to general ledger account balances
• Prepares the first draft of financial statements for assigned companies
• Imports and reconciles daily transactions as assigned
· Assists with preparing documents for external auditors
• Assists with state sales tax returns for Hill Brothers entities
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications
• Performs other duties as required and assigned
• Consistently reports to work as required and completes regular work hours
• Complies with company policies and procedures
Requirements
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor's or Associate Degree (four-year college or technical school) or Work Equivalent. Field of Study: Accounting
Experience: Three-plus years of experience in Accounting, preferably in multiple areas
Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Suite and advanced experience with Excel.
Previous experience with software programs such as TMW, TMT, and Great Plains is preferred.
Other Requirements: Strong analytical skills. Good verbal and written communication skills.
