Summary:
The Analyst, Junior Grants, will provide grant budget expertise for complex projects, including grant management, with extensive budget deliverables and tracking requirements and/or very large multi-tiered funded programs to manage as part of the grant application. Assists project managers in setting up, monitoring, and evaluating multiply budgets under the Academic Services Division focusing on the K-12 Academics and Assessment and Accountability Departments. Communicates with the Sr. Fiscal Analyst and Project Managers on a regular basis by providing compiled financial information to evaluate fiscal progress. Possesses basic knowledge of finance, including accounts payable, budget procurement, payroll, accounting, special revenue, property control, general ledger, all subsystems, and year-end procedures. Handles various job responsibilities/duties, has advanced skills with Microsoft Excel, and is detail oriented. Position is located at 901 E. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, 253 Days/8 hours per day. Responsibilities:
· Assists project managers in setting up, monitoring, and evaluating multiple and/or large grant budgets.
· Prepares and maintains multiple detailed ledgers to monitor grant budgets, expenditures, and balances, to ensure alignment with general ledger, and to prevent deficit balances from occurring.
· Budgets will be created, monitored, and reconciled at the district and/or school site level.
· Reviews budget transfers and amendments for accuracy and compliance with budgetary procedure.
· Reviews all expenditures for compliance with approved grant budgets, federal regulations, and district policies.
· Reviews and maintains all required backup documentation to ensure all documentation is complete and accurate and audit trail requirements are met.
· Performs reconciliation of budgeted positions based upon the approved grant award and provides projections.
· Ensures paperwork is coded properly to expedite payment and accurately assign expenses.
· Identifies and researches discrepancies and makes necessary corrections.
· Processes requisitions and purchase-card orders as needed.
· Communicates with the project manager on a regular basis by providing compiled financial information to evaluate grant fiscal progress.
· Provides information and guidance to school site staff.
· Communicates with the Finance Division to ensure the most current information and to acquire their support and assistance to monitor budgets and expenditures of grants and contracts.
· Maintains and stays current with knowledge of district data systems.
· Possesses basic knowledge of finance, including accounts payable, budget, procurement, payroll, accounting, special revenue, property control, general ledger, all subsystems, and year-end procedures.
· Handles various job responsibilities/duties and is detail oriented.
· Performs any other duties as assigned.

Experience: Two (2) years of business experience (accounting, finance, bookkeeping, Student information system data processing, internal auditing, etc.) Business experience (accounting, finance, bookkeeping, Student information system data processing, or internal auditing) may substitute for college course work based on two (2) years of experience for one (1) year of required college course work.
Language Skills: Reads, analyzes, and interprets all kinds of documents. Responds to inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or community. Writes speeches and effectively presents to managers, the public.
Mathematical Skills: Calculates figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Applies concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: Knowledge of relevant and current computer software programs and district data systems.

Lifting Demands: Up to 10 pounds.
