Sterile Processing Technician I - Edgewood, KY
Position Summary
This position is responsible for ensuring that all surgical and procedural supplies, instruments, and equipment are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, and distributed in a quality and timely manner in compliance with patient safety and infection control standards. Reports to: Manager or Supervisor of Sterile Processing.
Responsibilities
Decontamination
- Instrument preparation - (Recognizes over 2000 instruments and 500 trays)
Sterilization / High-Level Disinfection
Inventory Control and Distribution
- Quality Customer Service
- Financial Accountability
Education, Experience and Skills
Education:
- High school graduate or GED, minimum
- Associate's Degree, preferred
Experience:
- Surgical Tech experience or has worked in the Sterile Processing department
Specialized Knowledge:
- Knowledge of perioperative instrumentation, sterilization, and AAMI (Association of Advancement of Medical Instrumentation) standards.
- Computer entry skills
