Position Title Associate Dean for External Relations and Field Placement Position Number 899423 Position Category Administration School / Division School of Education Department Full-Time or Part-Time Full-Time Description Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean, the Associate Dean for External Relations and Field Placement will act as liaison to school districts and schools; oversee the coordination of required field placements for Hofstra students enrolled in the full range of School of Education (SOE) programs; and responsible for program coherence, articulation, and the development and maintenance of collaborative relationships and contracts (MOUs) with school district partnerships on Long Island and in New York City for the SOE. The incumbent will also oversee the daily operation and workflow of the Office of Field Placement, which arranges field placements, student teaching and internships across the full range of programs offered by the SOE; oversee the work of university field supervisors; and chair the Professional Education Committee, which coordinates plans / decisions related to students who are unsuccessful in the field.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Organizes and conducts orientation programs for supervisors and students requiring supervised field experiences.
- Interviews and hires clinical supervisors in consultation with departments.
- Serves on Teacher Center Boards and other not-for-profit organizations.
- Manages the departmental budget.
- Provides support for accreditation reports.
- Co-facilitates TPA implementation, program development, and orientations with the program directors and department chairs.
- Maintains and monitors the field placement database.
- Oversees the development of field placement calendars.
- Maintains and updates all field placement handbooks.
- Supervises the Assessment Systems Coordinator.
- Assists with ongoing planning process to implement the annual school wide goals and strategic plan of the School of Education.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
