General Statement of Function
The Campus Security/Maintenance Technician helps maintain order in the Attala Center, the campus, enforces rules and regulations, responsible for the security of the building. Performs maintenance activities, completes work orders assigned by Director of the Attala Center, and performs preventive maintenance as needed.
Position is a 40 hour week position-Schedule is determined on a semester basis as classes are finalized for the center.
Job Description
Security
- Responsible for the security of the building and property.
- Responsible for walking building a minimum once each hour and monitoring classes.
- Monitors conduct of students and guests, addresses minor issues or noise. Requests assistance as needed.
- Monitors cameras and enforces all rules for campus.
- Receives lost and found goods for storage and records in log.
- At night during events, walks parking lot to ensure secure.
- Checking all rooms and locking the building at the end of each day.
- Back gate locked daily
Maintenance
- Completes work orders as assigned.
- Determines the need for maintenance and makes the Director aware of those needs.
- Performs scheduled preventive maintenance in all areas of the Attala Center such as:
- Proactive cleaning of AC drains
- Assist in relocation, replacement and removal of facility inventory.
- Delivers copy paper and large packages to staff.
- Performs all areas of carpentry (painting, sheet rock repair) as needed.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Other Duties
- Sets up conference room for events
- Sets up lobby for voting
- Sets up holiday decorations
- Raising and lowering flag
- Front desk – Answers phone
- Collects money for programs/classes and writes receipts
- Assists students
- Shares responsibility with receptionist handling front desk
Qualifications
- High School diploma/Equivalent education
- Excellent references from previous employers
- Commitment to the community college concept.

- Strong interpersonal and community relations skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community.
