JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision and direction of the Pool Manager and Recreation Supervisor, the Cashier/Slide Attendant is responsible for a variety of duties to prepare the pool for the demands of the group present. While a Slide Attendant, you are responsible for operating the water slides in a safe manner. While you are Cashier, you are responsible for overseeing the amount of patrons entering and exiting the facility and selling daily passes, properly handing transactions. Should be able to record and relate details verbally and in written form. Must have good customer relations when dealing with the public. The Cashier/Slide Attendant at Lions Club Pool is a part time seasonal employee working 10-35 hours per week. Work shifts can range from 4-8 hours at a time. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide outstanding customer service to our internal and external guests by providing friendly, responsive, courteous and helpful service.
- To promote and stimulate good relationships with the public and other staff.
- Keep an accurate count of pool users.
- Keep an accurate count of the number of passes sold.
- Responsible for checking residency when selling pool passes or daily entrance passes.
- The cashier is responsible for the proper handling of all monies associated with the daily swimming pool.
- Maintain order at the bottom of water slide, upper tower, and deck areas. Be at designated station before patrons enter the pool, and until all patrons exit the pool.
- Be familiar with the facility’s Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and know your part in the process.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently or with limited direction; anticipate needs for successful operation of pool.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while performing duties, and while on park district premises. Abide by uniform standards while on duty.
- Maintain and promote excellent customer service relations with patrons, parents, and other affiliates.
- Assist in daily cleaning, order and care of the pool, locker rooms, deck, and surrounding areas; includes the emptying of litter receptacles. Maintain cleanliness of these areas throughout the day.
- Secure a substitute for any scheduled hours that cannot be worked.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all general and department safety rules. Strictly enforce all general safety rules and improve public and employee knowledge by preventing, confronting, and correcting unsafe behavior.
- Recognize, report, and respond to any unsafe conditions, and possible or definite pool hazards.
- Support, follow, administer and implement Homewood-Flossmoor Park District policies, procedures, guidelines, and crisis management plans in a professional and positive manner.
- Maintain and carry out all State, City and County Health Departments, professional certifications and the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District’s rules and regulations.
- Handle problems in a rational manner and present problem solutions to Pool Manager.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures.
- Other related job duties as assigned.

COGNITIVE SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Must be able to keep track of participants entering the pool and balancing the cash register.
- Should be able to handle problem situations and emergencies while having good public relations.
- Must be respectful, clear, and concise when enforcing rules or directing patrons

Qualifications


EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Possess a CPR/AED Certification or the willingness to become certified within 30 days of hire.
- Willing to learn how to use the software system, SmartRec.

PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
- The Cashier/Slide Attendant must work closely with co-workers.
- The Cashier/Slide Attendant must work around the general population.
- The Cashier/Slide Attendant has responsibility for the safety of all patrons while at the facility.
- The Cashier/Slide Attendant must work under the supervision and direction of supervisors.
- The Cashier/Slide Attendant must be able to make decisions to assure safety in the facility.
- The Cashier/Slide Attendant must be able to remain calm in stressful situations.
- The Cashier must be able to respond quickly and accurately.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:
- The Slide Attendant/Cashier will be exposed to the weather conditions which can include cold, rain, and extreme heat and humidity.
