What are the responsibilities and job description for the Planning Director position at Hoopa Valley Tribe?
PLANNING DIRECTOR, Planning Department, Regular, F/T, Salary: $90,000.00-$100,000/Annually,DOE. The principal responsibility of the Planning Director is to manage the daily functions, activities and operations of the planning department of the Hoopa Valley Tribe. These programs include but are not limited to Tribal Government, Member Services, Transportation, Land Use, and Community Development Planning. Performs advanced technical, professional, full performance administrative and supervisory level work in the Planning Department; coordinates the Tribe's current and long-range planning functions, including geographic information systems, land-use management, zoning and development review.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Public Administration, Geography, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering or closely related field; and at least five (5) year's prior planning experience with Tribal Government, Municipality, or other entity. Master's Degree in urban or regional planning, environmental planning, urban design, or geography is highly desired.
· Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate professional technical personnel.
· Comprehensive knowledge of land use planning, natural resource protections, growth patterns, economic development, and urban planning.
· Comprehensive knowledge of budgetary practices and fiscal planning
· Comprehensive knowledge of pertinent Tribal, Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
· Comprehensive knowledge of effective report preparations and presentations.
· American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) membership desired.
