Our Mission
Horizons for Homeless Children’s mission is to improve the lives of young homeless children in Massachusetts and help their families succeed by providing high-quality early education, opportunities for play, and comprehensive family support services.
Summary of Position
The Family Partnerships Internship offers opportunities to learn about and contribute to a comprehensive family support program. We seek passionate and motivated students who want to deepen their understanding in support of families experiencing homelessness. Horizons staff will work with academic partners to meet specific internship course requirements.
Responsibilities
- Support the development of a comprehensive community resource database by researching relevant organizations in Boston
- Assist with case management tasks as needed (e.g. help with completing applications for rental assistance, making referrals to training or educational programs, and responding to basic needs requests)
- Assist with planning and implementation of community activities (groups, celebrations, educational opportunities)
- Support parent engagement by creating outreach materials and communicating with parents about opportunities available at Horizons and in the community
- Assist with data entry and outcomes reports
Where and when you’ll work
This is an 8-10 hour a week paid internship. The internship will be from September-December with the option to renew January-May. This is an hourly position at a pay rate of $16.00 an hour. You can expect to work 100% onsite. Our beautiful new space is located: Edgerley Family Horizons Center at 1785 Columbus Ave, Roxbury, MA.

- Understanding of basic case management practices
- Ability to build relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds
- Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills
- Commitment to working with families experiencing poverty, trauma, and homelessness
- Flexibility and creativity
- Bilingual in Spanish or Haitian Creole required
Salary : $19 - $22
