Compliance Auditor
Housing Matters partners with individuals and families to create pathways out of homelessness into permanent housing. As part of the Housing Matters Quality Improvement team and under the direction of the Staff Development Manager, the Compliance Auditor supports Housing Matters program compliance with contractual requirements. Responsibilities are to understand, communicate, and review program and department requirements with an emphasis on contracted agreements, CARF, OSHA, CalAim, Enhanced Care Management, HMIS documentation, and other reporting requirements.

Preferred Experience / Education Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent experience in a relevant field, bachelor’s degree preferred
2 - 4 years of compliance auditing experience preferred
Familiarity with privacy-related regulations, such as HIPAA
In-depth knowledge of Housing Matters applicable industry laws, regulations, and standards
Familiarity with EHR systems is preferred
Proficient with complex rules, regulations, and policies.
Excellent strategic, analytical skills and creative problem-solving ability
Excellent organizational and time management skills
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and consistency
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal etiquette skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, or related software
Typical Job Duties :
Collaborate with management to ensure compliant programmatic and departmental implementation of grants and contracts, particularly regarding quality assurance / reviews and reporting.
Participate in relevant meetings to understand and ensure compliance and provide information.
Work with the program teams to ensure participant records are completed according to contract or regulatory requirements.
Work with non-direct care teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Provides management reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing program information.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities like reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
Ensures compliance with regulations and controls by examining and analyzing records, reports, operating practices, and documentation. Recommends opportunities to strengthen the internal control structure. Assists with the annual organizational financial audit.
Conduct detailed audits of program and department processes and documentation to identify and eliminate compliance risks
Inform management of noncompliance through timely detection and may recommend pertinent corrective plans
Document audit tests and findings to complete audit-related documentation and memorandums
Identify procedures that are not compliant with industry regulations and recommend the necessary changes
Assist with gathering and organizing resources for internal and external audits
Prepare accurate reports on the results of internal and external audits and present findings to management and department heads
Assist with the establishment and implementation of overall compliance auditing plans
Determines whether necessary participant record criteria are met as required by guidance in effect at the time of the review.
Monitors the organization’s required documentation for compliance with all grant and audit requirements. Communicate deficiencies effectively to the Quality Improvement team.
Handle sensitive information effectively and confidentially.
Adheres to organization-wide policies.
Represent the agency to persons outside the organization and interact with all staff in a professional, courteous, culturally sensitive, and tactful manner
