Content Writer and Strategist - Full-time In-House Position
POSITION OVERVIEW: Join our dynamic team at the East End Chamber of Commerce as a Content Writer and Strategist. This multifaceted role demands an organized, dependable, and responsive individual who can thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced environment. This position will write and post engaging and high-quality content for all marketing channels. This includes management, writing, and design for the Chamber directory, website, and all social media content, including flyers, graphics, and weekly e-blasts. As the leader of social media and digital marketing, you'll play a pivotal role in identifying, engaging, and nurturing members, business, and community partnerships through marketing efforts. Reporting to the Finance & Operations Manager and collaborating closely with the President and team, you will help shape our organization's growth and success.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Content Creation & Strategy
● We are seeking a detail oriented, motivated and energetic person to lead all marketing and communication initiatives. This role will be responsible for planning, implementing, managing and monitoring the Chamber's social media to increase brand awareness, improve online engagement and increase visibility.
● The ideal candidate will be the face of the Chamber’s marketing efforts, ensuring that all external communications align with our mission, values, and objectives.
● Take ownership of all Chamber communications, ensuring that content distribution across channels is accurate and consistent.
● Collaborate with the Chamber team to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing calendar (to include social media, website and e-blasts) that aligns with Chamber events, initiatives, and goals. Regularly analyze and report on engagement metrics.
● Oversee the creation and design of marketing materials for the Chamber and Foundation, Chamber Luncheons, Membership, Annual Directory, and more
● Attention to detail for proofreading and editing social media content
Digital Marketing & Analytics
● Oversee relationships with third-party vendors, including videographers and other contracted services. Ensure quality and timely delivery of projects that meet Chamber standards.
● Prepare monthly analytics reports on marketing data for Board presentation and committee meetings
● Maintain brand consistency, accuracy, and compliance across EECOC's digital presence on all social media, website and marketing collateral
● Maintain and update the Chamber’s website with current events, news, and other relevant information. Ensure content is accurate, visually appealing, and SEO-optimized. This includes daily Website management and Quarterly review with team
● Stay up to date with latest social media best practices and technologies
● Respond to comments and messages in a timely manner
● Google Analytics implementation and management
Event Support & Engagement
● Attend all Chamber events, both morning and evening, to actively participate in our community.
● Capture photos and videos at networking events, load pictures form contract photographer for all major events and luncheons
● Work closely with the Events Coordinator to effectively market upcoming events and ensure all event needs are met for marketing and communications
● Perform other duties as assigned
COMPETENCIES AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
● Bachelor’s degree preferred, with at last 3 years of experience in journalism, marketing, communications, or a related field.
● Proven experience in content creation, social media management and website content management.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail, proofreading and adapting tone for different audiences.
● Familiarity with tools like Adobe Creative Cloud, Hootsuite, and Asana, with the ability to learn new software quickly.
● Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly MS Excel for creating complex reports and charts.
● Ability to manager multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
● Strong interpersonal skills and customer-centric mindset, with a proactive approach to solving marketing challenges.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
● Photography and video editing skills to create visually appealing content are a plus.
