Salary:
Starting at $60,000, with potential increases commensurate with experience.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis, the Financial Analyst analyzes financial data, prepares ad hoc and recurring reports, and provides strategic insights to support decision-making. The Financial Analyst works closely with relevant budget leaders, department heads, and other stakeholders to optimize financial performance and ensure the organization meets its financial goals. Leverages industry knowledge and best practices to promote the mission and vision of Howard Brown Health as well as supports culture enhancement and management efforts.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Analyzes financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, identifying trends and providing actionable insights to improve financial performance.
- Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for senior management and board members.
- Conducts financial modeling and forecasting to support strategic planning and investment decisions.
- Collaborates with department heads to develop budgets and monitor budget performance across the organization.
- Performs variance analysis between actual results and budgeted figures, identifying areas for improvement.
- Supports the finance departments (payroll, rev cycle, etc) process by completing ad hoc requests with great efficiency and attention to detail. These can range from variance reporting, payor mix analysis, pro forma building, etc.
- Assists in the evaluation of financial viability for new healthcare initiatives, services, or expansions.
- Analyzes costs of healthcare services and recommend cost-saving measures without compromising quality of care.
- Provides ad hoc analysis and reports to support special projects, and capital investments.
- Other duties as assigned and/or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline required. Graduate degree in the same preferred.
- Minimum one (1) year professional experience as a financial analyst required. Healthcare, FQHC and/or non-profit experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES (K/S/A)
- Functional and proficient knowledge financial management principles
- Functional and proficient knowledge of fund accounting financial software and EMR software
- Ability to demonstrate attention to detail
- Ability to handle and maintain highly confidential information with professional maturity
- Ability to handle a high volume of detailed work while meeting tight deadlines and maintaining accuracy
- Functional and proficient knowledge of various technologies including, but not limited to MS Suite and payroll and finance software platforms including UKG, Blackbaud, Financial Edge and Power Plan
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Effective communication competencies including written, verbal and listening
- Strong knowledge of research approaches and the ability to apply relevant approach toward desired outcome(s)
- Strong problem-solving acumen and the ability to engage for supervisory support when appropriate
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding and acceptance of equity, inclusion and diversity concepts, and that they are broader than just race, ethnicity, and gender
- Ability to work affirmatively with gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) and HIV positive patients
