Position Description
HPS is seeking an Analyst / Associate to join the Sustainability, Power & Energy team in its New York office. The Sustainability, Power & Energy team is a dedicated group of individuals with specific sector expertise who lead the origination, structuring and management of credit investments within this business segment across the firm. This is a role that requires the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, across various products and subsectors within the power, renewables, sustainability, and transition energy landscape. Successful candidates will be self-starters with the desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following :
- Identify and research investment opportunities primarily in the private / illiquid credit markets, while also monitoring portfolio investments
- Develop financial models (both corporate, as well as project / asset level models)
- Perform comparative company and asset analyses to determine valuation and projected investment returns
- Work with senior members of the team, assist in efficiently screening new opportunities on the basis of their merits as well as their fit for HPS's strategies
- Conduct detailed business diligence (industry, asset-level, competitive landscape, etc.)
- Manage third-party vendors such as attorneys, consultants and accounting / due diligence firms
- Perform detailed market and sector analyses and recommend investment opportunities and strategies
- Review primary credit documents and participate in new documentation negotiations
