Job Summary

The Controls Engineer will also supervise and mentor control technicians and collaborate with various departments to ensure the efficient operation of machinery.
Primary Responsibilities
- Adhere to company safety standards, identifying electrical hazards and taking corrective action as needed.
- Lead and support control technicians, engineers, maintenance teams, and vendors in the design, installation, and commissioning of equipment and control systems.
- Supervise and assign tasks to control technicians, monitor performance, and set priorities.
- Specify and select electrical components, PLCs, HMIs, motors, drives, and data collection software per company standards.
- Design and modify complex control systems, including PLC logic, HMI programs, and servo controllers, to enhance equipment and system performance.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for electrical, mechanical, and process issues, utilizing internal and external resources.
- Coordinate machine data collection and improve data historian systems by integrating production equipment into the plant network.
- Lead small capital projects and provide support during equipment installations and upgrades.
- Stay informed on new technologies and industry standards and propose improvements to increase operational efficiency.
- Train staff on control systems, equipment, and safety procedures; provide technical support to production and maintenance teams.
- Assist with project planning, budgeting, and forecasting as needed.
- Ensure proper documentation for equipment, including troubleshooting guides and safety procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Minimum 1 year of industrial controls experience with a strong understanding of electrical theory and operational principles.
- Proficiency in control systems programming software, AutoCAD for schematic drawings, and basic office applications (email, word processing, spreadsheets).
- Experience working with PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, and other control hardware.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- DCS and/or robotics experience would be a plus.
- Advanced PLC, servo, and HMI programming skills.
- Ability to design, install, and troubleshoot complex control systems and software.
- Strong leadership abilities, with the capability to guide and mentor technicians.
- Knowledge of machine communication networks and data historian systems.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with experience in numeric analysis software.
- Ability to manage projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
