Hughes Quality Eyecare is a one location optometry practice with a change in ownership in 2019. We have an immediate opening for an optometric technician. Our busy practice has one full-time doctor with multiple examination lanes. Previous optometric or medical experience required. Office hours are Monday through Friday without weekends, late nights, or holidays. No medical/dental insurance offered. Benefits include paid holidays, paid vacation time, monthly bonus incentives (after probationary period), complimentary personal eyecare, and retirement plan (after 1 year of employment).

Optometric Technician Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for doctor by gathering chief complaint, health/ocular history, medications, allergies, and family history
- Perform visual acuity, IOP readings, and manual lensometer
- Set phoropter with patient’s current spectacle Rx
- Operate special testing (Visual Field, OCT, and Fundus Photos) for ocular disease like glaucoma, macular degeneration, etc.
- Enter pre-testing data into EHR program (Compulink)
- Conduct contact lens insertion and removal (I&R) classes
- Be conscientious of patient’s time and doctor’s schedule
- Obtain insurance authorizations
- Schedule appointments, stock supplies, greet patients, answer phones
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in office space and exam rooms
- Comply with office policies and HIPAA
- Show initiative to accomplish practice goals
- Desire for career longevity
- Ability to interact with fellow employees and management in a professional manner
- Willingness and motivation to learn about the optical industry including but not limited to ordering glasses, adjusting glasses, and submitting glasses/contact lens orders
Required Work Experience
- Previous optometric/medical office experience or training
Skills
- Ability to use electronic health records
- Outgoing personality to provide an exceptional patient experience
Education
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
