The Banquet Captain will coordinate and organize the service details for banquets, receptions, and various social events.
Responsibilities
- Assess banquet schedule and requisition extra help as necessary for efficient operations and service.
- Direct the team in setting up tables, arranging seating, and managing the decoration process to create a welcoming atmosphere.
- Develop a structured serving plan and ensure timely, orderly, and professional delivery of each course with a quiet and courteous atmosphere.
- Manage wait staff and setup teams, providing training to ensure staff readiness and smooth service.
- Warmly greet guests and attend to their needs, observing to anticipate requests, time courses, and transition smoothly when the meal is completed.
- Support the day-to-day operations of the banquet department to ensure efficient event execution.
- Monitor and ensure accurate banquet checks, maintaining financial control and compliance with company policies.
- Actively contribute to both the setup and service processes, ensuring a smooth flow throughout the event.
- Track, maintain, and store banquet equipment, ensuring everything is accounted for and in good condition.
- Adhere to security, safety, and emergency procedures, as well as energy-efficient practices, to ensure the well-being of guests and staff.
- Step into the role of Banquet Manager when needed, overseeing the department’s operations and ensuring event success in their absence.
Education and Experience
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 6 months experience in banquets or food services
Licenses/Certifications
TIPS certification and Food Safety certification
