OPPORTUNITY

The primary purpose of a Supervisor is to directly oversee the Cottage Grove East production operations through effective use of assets and personnel. This role supports the goals and objectives identified for the success of the Process and Industrial business segments.

As a night shift production supervisor, primary responsibilities include:

• Responsible for meeting safety, productivity and quality goals of the plant.
• Ensures safety, quality, and regulatory policies are followed.
• Directs operators in all production activities, working with Process Managers to meet customer expectations, safety requirements, and productivity standards.
• Provides direct leadership and coaching to operators to meet plant objectives.
• Maintains training and performance records for production operators.
• Completes performance evaluation for operators.
• Recognizes and disciplines operators appropriately.
• Develops, manage and communicate the plant coverage schedule of production and utility operators, including vessel assignments, vacation management, and overtime assignments.
• Executes the curriculum for training program for both new and existing operators.
• Works with Training Supervisor to identify and close training gaps and needs.
• Acts as Incident Commander for all incidents on shift. Required to be member of ERT team.
• Reports and communicates all incidents, accidents, near misses in required timeline.
• Supports incident investigations and addresses corrective actions as needed.
• Manages process waste including fuels, water, and empty drums to ensure plant runs effectively.
• Manages loading, unloading, transloading of raw materials to storage tanks, tankers, railcars. This includes driver management.
• Responsible maintaining plant housekeeping standards.
• Supports plant continuous improvement by communicating implementing operator ideas and participating in projects.
• Responsible for operator engagement and participation in plant initiatives. Acts a change agent for improvement activities.
• Escalates safety, service, and quality issue to plant management appropriately.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

• This position reports to the Manufacturing Manager.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL CRITERIA

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical degree or bachelor’s degree is desirable.
• Must have excellent leadership skills.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience preferred in industrial manufacturing.
• Experience in organic chemical synthesis and polymerizations preferable.
• Strong computer skills and knowledge of Power Point, Word, and Excel preferred.
• Must have communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to read, write, and speak English.
• CDL license with hazmat endorsements is desired.
• Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 12 hours per day.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights up to 50 feet on occasion.
• Ability to perform manual dexterity tasks and heavy, manual labor.
• Ability to wear respirator for up to 4 hours per day.
• Wearing contact lenses is prohibited.
