Washes windows, walls, ceilings, light fixtures, cleans all horizontal and vertical surfaces.. Analyzes floor conditions, determines proper cleaning method to ensure proper appearance. Operates vacuum. Dry mops and wet mops and spot cleans any type of floor. Coordinates all environmental services activity with the unit or department involved to minimize problems and ensure safety. Performs special isolation cleaning according to established procedures as required. Removes soiled linen from beds, washes beds, remakes beds with clean linen on patient room transfers and dismissals. Polices all first impression areas as necessary to maintain the areas in a clean and tidy condition throughout the day and night. Replenishes supplies where needed, maintains cleanliness of all equipment and storage areas. Reports the need for repair of equipment, furniture, building and Fixtures to the appropriate person ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES: Assists in the cleaning of emergency spills, floods, etc., as required. Works well with co-workers to complete routine tasks and special tasks. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by lead person or supervisor. Is knowledgeable of and actively participates in improving patient safety and reducing risk to patients. Complies with Safety and Infection Control Policies and Procedures. Recognizes and communicates issues/occurrences utilizing established lines of authority, and assists in identifying ways to resolve variances or unacceptable outcomes. Actively participates in department meetings, committees, conferences, and in services. Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the MercyOne and Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS Must successfully pass employment physical examination and must adhere to applicable organizational requirements on an annual basis for Employee Health Directives. Must possess the ability to comply with MercyOne and Trinity Health policies and procedures. This job is categorized as "Medium Work". Has the physical stamina to meet the requirements of this job. Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and /or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly. Must be able to handle stress effectively. Must understand and accept the possibility of exposure to environmental elements, internal and external, which may affect the work place, such as infectious disease, chemical and/or chemical fumes, dust, noise, physical injury from an out of control patient, and adverse effects of inclement weather which may occur.
