What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outbound Operations Supervisor position at ibt?
PURPOSE
The Outbound Operations Supervisor leads Distribution Center employees through the daily duties of the respective area of operation. Resolve issues and motivate employees to safely and accurately perform outbound operations daily. This includes processing UPS, truck, and internal distribution of parcels to customers, branches, and employees.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Accountable to the Warehouse Manager for department performance in quality, cost, delivery, safety environment, and policy administration.
Train employees on enterprise operating systems, maintaining team standards and records if necessary.
Support planning of and management of departmental goals and metrics.
Identify and help with the elimination of TCE’s through continuous process improvement.
Provide leadership for the warehouse employees in the department.
Ensure that employees within the department have the necessary resources to accomplish department goals.
Recognize department and individual accomplishments.
Develop and maintain a good working relationship with all personnel.
Ensure procedures for outbound shipments are consistent, timely, and error free.
Conduct daily huddles to communicate business performance and have two-way discussions with employees.
Lead employees through conflict resolution processes and mediate conflicts as needed. Resolve grievances and escalate higher-level disciplinary situations as appropriate.
Conduct coaching sessions, including performance evaluations, to improve associate performance. Counsel and support employees with any needs or concerns as required and document necessary disciplinary issues.
Maintain adequate people and skill levels to run the department in partnership with the manager.
Enforce all safety rules and company policies.
Handles building security to include locking warehouse and setting alarms after the night shift.
Other duties as required and assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
Associate degree and/or 3-years experience in warehousing or outbound responsibilities.
Demonstrated experience with multi-functional leadership, setting goals with follow-up for others
Experience working through policy enforcement and disciplinary issues.
Good organizational and communication skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSSight, hearing, speech. Frequent lateral mobility; frequent standing and walking; use of both hands and arms; ability to lift weights over 75 pounds; occasional bending/stooping; exposure to hot, cold, and dust; mentally able to plan and analyze verbal input; solve problems; make decisions and take appropriate action under moderate stress.POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED WORK HOURSThis is a full-time position with a 40-hour minimum with the schedule of Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. however, work hours or types of work may vary.
