As a Data Center Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the stability, security, and optimization of critical on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure. This position is at the heart of ensuring seamless operations while the Census Bureau transitions toward a hybrid/multi-cloud environment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement automation, consolidate legacy systems, and support enterprise-wide modernization initiatives. Your leadership will be instrumental in maintaining high availability, disaster recovery, and security compliance while integrating next-generation cloud technologies. This role is ideal for a proactive professional eager to drive innovation and efficiency in a high-impact federal project.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day operations, maintenance, and new installations within on-premises data centers, ensuring 24/7/365 availability and optimal performance.
- Manage and automate data center infrastructure (physical and virtual) using VMware, Cisco UCS, Sun M Servers, Ansible, and Morpheus Data.
- Implement and maintain security and compliance frameworks, leveraging Red Hat Satellite Server and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager.
- Develop and execute Data Center to Cloud Migration strategies while managing disposition of assets.
- Lead disaster recovery planning and business continuity exercises, ensuring compliance with USCB COOP requirements.
- Establish and monitor ITIL-based processes for change, configuration, release, and problem management.
- Ensure enterprise-wide infrastructure monitoring integration into EOC, SOC, and NOC dashboards.
- Provide leadership and coordination for the implementation of process improvement strategies, automation initiatives, and security enhancements.
- Ensure system patching, OS/application security hardening, and vulnerability remediation in coordination with security teams.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 8 years of experience in managing data centers, modernization environments, or similar work experience.
- Wide range of experience with infrastructure-related languages, including but not limited to Java, Python, SQL, etc.
- Strong knowledge of data center operations, cloud services, and server platforms
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to solve complex technical challenges
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance as required for program performance and access to sensitive information.
