Do you have accounting experience working in homebuilding or construction? Are you seeking a career not just a job? If so, please read on!

We are seeking a experienced Staff Accountant with prior work history maintaining accurate monthly financial
statements and reporting, overseeing loan draws to ensure completion and accuracy submitted in timely manner, while also verifying job costs are accounted for appropriately.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly proforma, cash flow, and profit & loss. Compile monthly debt covenants reporting and liquidity statement requirements.
  • Create jobs in the accounting system for various properties.
  • Ensure monthly financial statements are accurate and completed timely which includes but is not limited to entering monthly sales and cost of sales, interest accruals, prepaid, insurance, inter-companies, cash receipts, etc.
  • Process loan draw requests; gathering costs associated with current request, grouping/summarizing costs, working with AP to ensure all required documents are received from sub-contractor, etc.
  • Review processing of Accounts Payable which includes but not limited to approvals, lien waivers, commitment, cash disbursements etc.
  • Allocate and true up various job expenses.
  • Assist with daily company Cash Report such as projected closings, cashier’s checks, projected disbursements, future cash requirements, projected loan draws and projected distributions.
  • Calculate Real Estate Agent commission, as applicable.
  • Initiate wire transfers as needed by upper management.
  • Tracking refunds and payments related to Real Estate taxes.
  • Track utility deposits paid to municipalities.
  • Performs special assignments as assigned.

Education/Experience and Qualification:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, business or related area
  • 3 years Construction/Homebuilding experience required
  • Must have financial statement experience to include month end closing.
  • Ideal candidate will have experience with lien releases
  • Able to quickly understand complex situations and determine strategies and action required for improvement
  • Must be able to work in a fast pace environment with a strong sense of urgency
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Advance PC skills, including the use of Excel and Access
  • 10 key by touch
  • Ability to communicate and interact with various levels of staff
  • Strong work ethic able to work independently as well as be a team player
