What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Underwriter - Construction position at Ikon Search?
Ikon has partnered with a top brokerage/MGA that's looking for a Senior Underwriter to lead their Construction program. They're owned by a retailer that controls ~$10B in premium and places a significant portion of their business through in-house programs.
This role would entail building out the construction vertical from scratch within the client's internal wholesale arm. They already place $400M GWP through external wholesalers, so they would be looking to take as much of that premium through their in-house channels as possible.
They have 10 existing carriers to place business with and are continuing to build out their presence among carriers.
The team is hybrid, spending 1 day/week in their midtown NYC office.
Responsibilities:
- Build the construction vertical from scratch
- Build and develop new relationships with carrier partners
- Place casualty business, mainly GL & Excess
- Help determine an appropriate appetite and overall program strategy as needed
Qualifications:
- 3 years experience underwriting Construction accounts is an absolute must
- Experience underwriting casualty lines.
- Understanding of how wholesale/E&S insurance works
Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
