Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

IMSA is actively seeking applications for the position of Day Hall Monitor Substitute in the Office of Residence Life.  Day Hall Monitors support Residential Life live-in staff by assisting with the day to day operations of the residence halls as well as with the development of students.

 

This position is a non-exempt, 10 month, employment-at-will position at a starting rate of $15.00 per hour. Hours/Shift/Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 3:00pm with a 30 minute lunch break, on an as needed basis with regular needs on most Wednesdays.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The major duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Monitor the safety and well-being of up to 100 students and their guests that may be present in the hall, including escorting students to main building and checking in with students excused from class.
  • Monitor safety and security of residence halls by completing rounds of first and second floor, viewing security monitors, locking/unlocking spaces, conducting emergency drills, and responding to emergencies.
  • Communicate all student issues with residential life staff, maintenance, health office, attendance office, and security using phones, email, and softwares, in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with laundry and vending machine services regarding service issues.
  • Proficient use of Student Information System (Powerschool) for monitoring of students and daily input of duty log.
  • Perform light housekeeping to create a clean and welcoming office environment i.e.: dusting, vacuuming, and re-organizing.
  • Assist with food service, provide supervision during service hours, and monitor external food deliveries
  • Deliver medical bags to health office, facilitate student mail pickup, provide attendance accountability checks, and ensure student environments are generally organized and clean.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience and knowledge in academic setting/work with adolescents highly desirable.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work is performed in an office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.  Substantial time is spent working on a computer. This role generally requires mobility, written and verbal communication, hearing and visual capabilities. However, reasonable accommodations, including assistive technology, may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform such requirements.

 

COMPENSATION:

Compensation for this position is $15.00/hr. This position is not benefits eligible.
