Overview
The Office of Student Affairs at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® (IMSA) invite you to join them in shaping and implementing the next generation of innovative and engaging learning experiences. IMSA is actively seeking applications for the position of Temporary, Part-time (.50fte) Residence Life Leadership Coach for the Residence Life Department. The position is anticipated to start in January 2025 and work is anticpated to be completed no later than May 30, 2025 and may end aerlier upon completion of assignment. This position is supervised and evaluated by the Chief Student Affairs Officer.
The Department of Residence Life is a part of the Office of Student Affairs and strives to provide students with an equitable, safe, healthy, and comfortable living environment for IMSA’s diverse student population. Students live on campus in residence hall communities, which foster their personal, social, intellectual and ethical leadership development. The Residence Life staff is composed of the Director of Residence Life, 3 Area Coordinators, 28 Resident Counselors and Day Hall Monitors.
The Residence Life Leadership Consultant role is a temporary, part time (.5) position whose key responsibilities include providing leadership coaching for the Residence Life department, evaluating processes and procedures, recommending improvements for the department, and facilitating staff training. The Residence Life Leadership Consultant works collaboratively with the Residence Life supervisory team (Director and Area Coordinators) and reports to the Chief Student Affairs Officer.

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Conduct a program review and needs assessment for the Residence Life department, and provide written recommendations regarding the team’s greatest strengths and opportunities for improvement, specifically related to enhancing the student experience, increasing staff morale, and improving efficiency.
- Facilitate leadership coaching, team building, and goal setting for the Residence Life supervisory team members individually and collectively.
- Provide training for Residence Life team members on topics such as student support and intervention, case management, crisis response, managing competing priorities, and leading in academic environments.
- Evaluate Residence Life recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training processes and recommend changes for improvement.
- Provide input and assistance to Student Affairs team members on policies and processes related to the Behavioral Intervention Team and the Student/Parent Handbook.
- Attend Residence Life team meetings as determined by the Director of Residence Life and/or Chief Student Affairs Officer.
- Attend weekly meetings with the Chief Student Affairs Officer to report on project status; attend monthly Student Affairs supervisor meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum required skills and experience for this position include, but are not necessarily limited to:
- Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education administration or related field required.
- Minimum 10 years of experience hiring, training and evaluating professional staff in residential life and/or higher education.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Comfortable using technology to communicate and increase efficiency including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and Google Business Suite.
- Experience in the area of diversity, equity and inclusion to provide culturally competent training for Residence Life staff.
- Strong service orientation and ability to relate effectively with diverse individuals and groups at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to be productive, deliver high quality work, take initiative, use good judgement, and problem solve.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in an office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer. This role generally requires mobility, written and verbal communication, hearing and visual capabilities, and finger dexterity. However, reasonable accommodations, including assistive technology, may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform such requirements.
COMPENSATION:
This position is a temporary, part-time (.50fte), exempt, employment-at-will position. Part-time salary range $44,300 and $54,400 with final salary determined by education and expereince. Salary will be pro-rated based on time worked. As a temporary role, this position is not benefit eligible.
