PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Personal

Program/Facility
1. Assist the teacher as directed in order to provide appropriate early childhood experiences in all areas of development.
2. Assist the teacher in preparing the physical environment and maintaining order in the environment.
3. Clean and maintain order in all classroom storage areas, when necessary and when time permits.
4. Participate with the children at snack, socializing and developing independence and manners at this time.
5. Assist in supervising all activities, ensuring the safety of the children at all times.
6. Report problems which may occur with the children or with the parents (volunteers) to the teacher without discussing it with others.
7. Observe, record, and report a child’s behavior as assigned.
8. Attend all activities, school functions, or programs as directed by the teacher or Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Age 16 or older.
2. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. frequently.
3. Must have his/her name checked against the Nebraska Central Registry of Child Abuse and Neglect and the Nebraska Adult Protective Services Registry before being hired.
4. High School Graduate/GED or Currently attending high school preferred.
Daycare Staff must meet one of the following criteria:
1. Hold a Bachelor or Associate Degree in fields related to the care/education of children age 0-12 years (i.e. early childhood education, child development, elementary education, special education).
2. Have a Child Development Associate Credential
3. Obtain a written department-approved plan to acquire at least 3 credit hours or 15 clock hours of department-approved in-service in the area of child development, early childhood education, or child care administration in a period not to exceed 12 months.
Summary
As a Preschool Paraprofessional, you will support the educational development of young children in a classroom setting, reporting directly to the lead teacher.
