ImOn Communications has been the LOCAL choice for high-speed Internet, cable TV, and phone in Eastern Iowa since 2007. Since then, we have expanded our network to provide fiber Internet services to more than a dozen communities in Iowa and beyond! As we grow our network, we are looking for a Sr. Manager of Field Operations to join our team.

The Senior Manager of Field Operations is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities and strategic direction of all field operations within the organization. This role ensures the effective deployment, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunications infrastructure and services. The Sr. Manager will manage a team of field technicians and supervisors, working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and customer service teams to ensure high-quality, efficient, and timely service delivery. This position plays a critical role in optimizing field operations, improving productivity, ensuring safety, and driving operational excellence in alignment with company goals.
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assists Install Supervisor and Technicians in the field when necessary.
- Provides effective communication and supervision to department employees
- Works with the team to develop departmental and individual goals consistent with company strategic plans, policies and programs
- Fosters a spirit of teamwork, continuous process improvement, wellness, health and safety
- monitors productivity, quality standards and cost objectives to ensure performance standards are being met or exceeded.
- Plans, coordinates, assigns, and oversees work of direct reports. Sets production goals ensuring that best safety practices are followed.
- Manages the workflow, invoicing and quality of work completed by approved contractors ie; drop bury, special projects, etc.
- Performs detailed job checks to assure company standards are met. Manages employee performance and accountability.
- Completes employee performance appraisals, rewards employees, and administers conflict resolution and corrective discipline up to and including termination if needed. Coaches and conducts bi -weekly one on one session with each employee.
- Interviews, hires and assists with on boarding process of new hires into functional area. Promotes and manages an efficient, professional atmosphere while maximizing profitability and retention of employees.
- Trains employees on job functions, task procedures, work standards and proper safety procedures.
- Motivates staff, promotes continuous improvement, and establishes individual S.M.A.R.T goals in accordance with departmental/ team goals.
- Authorizes bi-weekly payroll and time-off requests of staff. Assists in annual budgeting for the department.
- Shows exemplary service to customers, corporate leadership, peer supervisors and staff. Instills a professional, customer service driven attitude among the team. Addresses complaint’s and efficiently resolves issues with customers and staff.
- Conducts departmental meetings, including preparation of meeting agendas, to discuss operational issues, concerns and company wide information.
- Instills Company Culture within the team.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
We are looking for people with:
- High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent
- At least 7 years of leadership or management experience
- At 4 years of field installation experience
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects, meet established deadlines and change as business needs require.
It would be nice if you had (preferred qualifications):
- Associate’s degree preferred.
- Telecommunications industry experience.
